DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS IN THE OFFICE OF INFRASTRUCTURE

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

The Finance and Administration Department of the Ministry offers the following services for the smooth running of affairs in the Meinistry:

	Appointment of junior members of Staff of the Ministry.
	Takes care of the Promotion of Staff.
	In charge of training and re-training of Members of Staff.
	Keeps records of all proceedings in the Ministry.
	Carries out planning and research on the improvement of state of affairs in the Ministry.
	Furnishing of Government Offices and Quarters.

PLANNING & DESIGN

The Planning & Design department of the Office of Infrastructure Performs specialized functions to ensure that the following services are made readily available to the State:

	Provision of Consultancy Services in Civil Engineering related Projects
	Private Sector Participation Projects & Advisory Services
	Roads/Highways designs, Bridges, Structural Designs for buildings including contract document preparation and project appraisal/reporting.
	Advisory services on evolution of new rates
	In charge of the implementation of revenue generation from road user charges and other road operations such as road cut.
	Public Infrastructure Improvement Partnership (PIIP)

HIGHWAYS & ROAD MAINTENANCE

In order to ensure that the Lagos State Government provides essential infrastructures to the citizenry, the department embarks on the following activities:

	Road Maintenance Management on Zonal Basis.
	Public Infrastructure improvement partnership Projects
	Routine Road Maintenance under operation Patch it Well (OPIW).
	Road Rehabilitation by Contracts.

ACCOUNTS

In order to ensure the smooth running of the Ministry, the Accounts Department renders the following services:

	Ascertaining the financial position of Office of Works at any given time.
	Raising of payment and salary vouchers
	Payment of Salary and contractors
	Salary variation.
	Liaison with State Treasury Office.
	Encashment
	Keeping of financial Records of the Office of Works
	Ensuring availability of Funds for smooth running of the Office
	Banking transaction with EIB International Bank on behalf of the Office of Works.
