Zonal
Approach to all Year Round Road Maintenance
The Ministry has adopted a new approach to the
maintenance of roads in the state. The new approach
entails the appointment of reputable companies
as rehabilitation contractors who would be responsible
for the whole network of roads in the state based
on zonal arrangements. This innovation will allow
for efficiency, effectiveness and increased transparency
in the area of road maintenance and management.
Plant
and Equipment Leasing
The Company, City Plant and Equipment Limited,
has taken off with the Government investment portfolio
under the coordination of Ibile Holdings Limited.
A number of Government serviceable plants that
would have constituted a major drain on public
funds to repair, have been pooled and transferred
to the leasing company for rehabilitation and
use.
Negotiations have also started between City Plant
and Equipment and selected private organizations
like Investment and Mechanical services Limited,
G.B. Engineering and Machinery- a Hong Kong based
Equipment Company, for the acquisition of a massive
number of plants and machinery. Hopefully, the
company will be one of the biggest Equipment Leasing
giants in Nigeria, once it is in full stream.
Energy Development Programme
With the recent policy shift in the use of Natural
Gas as an alternate source of energy, the State
Government has set up an inter-ministerial committee
on the Marketing and sales of Natural Gas in Lagos
State tagged "Committee on the regulation of marketing
and sales of Natural Gas in Lagos State". Policies
have also been formulated in respect of overseeing
the operations of Natural Gas Vendors in Lagos
State.
Establishment of Bus
Assembly Plant
In order to improve the mass transit system in
the state, a Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U.)
has been produced for endorsement by the state
Ministry of Justice for the setting up of a Bus
Assembly Plant in the State. This is one of the
State Government's private sector and the Brazillian
counterpart, (COMIL) initiatives that will encourage
increased economic activity and also generate
employment opportunities.
